This prayer was recorded in response to a word that has been circulating regarding a vision of the Empire State Building in NY collapsing. It was sent to the list of the one who originally sent it to me, but I feel the quickening on it, and that I should send it to my whole list.
Please pass this prayer onto others, as you feel led of the Lord to do so:
Father, we come to you In Jesus Name,
Lord.......even as Abraham prevailed for a city because of the righteous residents, I ask that You would raise up the prayer warriors and intercessors who will prevail in prayer for the cities of our great nation.
God you are PLENTEOUS in mercy. You describe Your mercy as a vast and endless ocean, while you compare Your wrath to only a cupful. That cup of wrath may be full, but I pray, in Jesus Name, that once again Your lovingkindness and mercy would prevail. Let it's torrential force knock over that cupful of wrath that once again Your wrath would be completely consumed in Your mercy. Not that we be free to continue as a careless people, Lord, but because we need more chances, maybe even MANY MORE chances to appeal to those who are lost and dying without knowing Your saving power, Your delivering power, Your cleansing power!!
Lord, the people have not had a chance to truly see Jesus manifested IN His people. Lord, You are purifying us for a purpose, that we might be living epistles, seen and read of all men, and Lord, the people of this nation need more of chance to get to read the true character and nature of Jesus Christ in His people. Lord, they do not need another fire and brimstone sermon unto repentance because those have been in abundance, and yet the fruit is still lacking.
Lord, I know Your Word says that it's through the foolishness of preaching men would be saved. God, you know that I love the sound and the substance and the glorious sense of Your presence that truly anointed and powerful preaching of the gospel carries on it's wings into the atmospheres where it is unleashed, and allowed to freely flow. But now, Lord, I pray that all the preaching we have heard be converted into great demonstration THROUGH the lives of Your people so that just our presence in places like the Empire State Building causes people to fall on their knees and cry out to You for Your favor and mercy to fall upon them, even as it has fallen on us!
Lord, when will our shadows passing by the sick heal the people even as Peter's shadow healed the people?? Lord, we long for such days to come for Your people. The gospel of the kingdom has not truly been preached until You manifest through Your people to this measure, so please, Lord HAVE MERCY and help us to commit to the fires that You can purify us INTO that place of great trust for Your people so that we will be used of You, and for all the right reasons, and NOT to heap the glory unto ourselves.
God, I know the devil cannot do a thing, except that YOU allow it! In Jesus Name, Lord, I ask you NOT to give him any permission to cause burning buildings to cascade down on the tops of those who have never had a chance to repent because they have never truly been drawn by YOUR Spirit to You because if they had been drawn, they would have come. They would have cried out in repentance, and many of them would even be far more fastidious and diligent and devoted Christians than we find ourselves to be, if only they would get the chance to truly HEAR with the spiritual hearing that only YOU can create within the heart of a person.
Jesus, give them yet another chance and especially give US another chance to present the power of the gospel in the power and demonstration of the Spirit, not as tirades of anger because we are immersed in the sense of our own worthiness and self-righteousness but because we have YOUR HEART for the lost and dying people who at times are not even smart enough at times to know their left hand from their right hand, no matter how much worldly wisdom and saavy they may appear to possess.
God it's only by YOUR grace that we are saved, and know the power of Your great Name! ALL WE LIKE SHEEP HAVE GONE ASTRAY, and we have turned EVERYONE to his own way...... We know there is NONE that doeth good, NO NOT ONE, and Lord, except You had been merciful to reveal Yourself to us we would still be dragging around the decaying and corrupted and rotting carcass of the old man.
Yes, we would be nothing more than a festering and oozing dead carcass leaving a horrible stench where ever we go, but because You have removed the old and tattered and beggars garments, and giving us Your beautiful and fragrant robes of righteousness to wear we can now come into Your presence, even BOLDLY to the throne of grace to not only pray for ourselves, and our own problems, but to enter into the intercessory anointing of our elder brother, our High Priest, even JESUS, who loved us and gave Himself not only for us, but for the sins of the WHOLE WORLD.
In HIS NAME, Lord, we entreat you once again to stay Your hand of judgment for the sake of those whom You would choose to draw to Yourself because You have promised that YOUR kingdom would be a glorious kingdom with NO END, and that the glory of the knowledge of the Lord would cover the earth as the waters the cover the seas.
I ask that you would absolutely render powerless any word from any proud prophet who would rather see destruction and devastation in order to confirm their gift, even as Jonah did, rather than the mercy and love of God . Lord, help us to see the BIGGER PICTURE than proving our own prophetic gifts and callings. Jesus, give us YOUR heart. You said in Your word that you are NOT WILLING that any should perish, but that ALL should come to repentance!
Lord, all our titles will someday be forgotten. But the Name of Jesus and the Word of God will endure forever. Let our first allegiance be to JESUS and HIS HEART, and NOT to our titles and positions and the proof of our ministerial worthiness. Away with our OVER-concern of those things. Jesus, help us just to be your humble and willing servants desiring YOUR will and the true HONOR of YOUR NAME above all that we are, or think we are, and all we possess. Jesus. Jesus. Jesus. Jesus. Jesus. Jesus. Jesus. ONLY Jesus!!!
God, let this prayer be BIRTHED in the hearts of Your people this day that we might truly see revival throughout this land rather than wasting and destruction and judgment. If there be yet even 1 righteous praying man alone in a city, let his prayers and cries prevail above every other voice, above every other sound, above all perversion and corruption and abomination that is so freely flowing in the atmospheres of our cities.
God, we understand as Your people that You are greatly dismayed at these things. We understand that you cannot stand sin and uncleanness. We understand that Your righteousness demands accountability, but I remind You this day of the great price Your very own Son, the Lord Jesus Christ paid that Your hand of judgment would be STAYED, and I ask You once again look at the nail scars in the hands and feet, and the scar of the wounded side of Your own Son, and let those rivers of blood that flowed from the person of Your own Son be the advocate for the world, and for Your people.
Lord, You promise in Your word that where sin abounds, MUCH MORE Your grace, and I stand this day on the promises of God, and trust You to give us yet another chance!! And thank YOU, Lord, for all the chances You have given us, because we know they have been MANY!!
Only a God full of mercy such as You could have had the patience with the peoples of the earth, and especially Your own people as You have had, and I love You, Lord Jesus, and I ask You to cause me to know your TRUE HEART about things like judgement, and wrath and mercy and restoration that I need to have so I can pray with wisdom, and truly pray as YOU would pray in all these things, and when prophecies come forth about destruction and judgment.
God, finally, I would remind You, and remind Your people through this prayer, that Your word declares in the book of Revelation that there is rainbow around your throne. We know that Your rainbow speaks of Your mercy. When you made covenant with Noah and put the rainbow in the sky for a token of that covenant it was to promise that never again would you destroy the earth with a flood.
Well, God, we are not facing any flood in the form of waters of rain, but we are facing floods of perversion and sinfulness in all sorts of hideous manifestations that would like to destroy our nation. God, give Your people HOPE this day that You still YET have power to make this a great and righteous nation, and that these flood waters of FILTH will NOT prevail to destroy us anymore than the flood waters of a hurricane would be allowed to bring to full end our streets and cities and homes and businesses, and all that comprises the elements of our society, even though those things might have a little measure of success in their determination to destruction.
You only allow those things to go so far, and then Your thundering voice always declares to the elements, ENOUGH, and those elements of STAYED by the power of Your voice over ALL of creation! It's because You made a promise to Your servant Noah that AS LONG AS THE EARTH REMAINETH.......(Genesis 8, last verses).
You will not allow those waters of judgment because YOU are ever aware of just how pathetically frail people are, and that our frame is but dust, and that we are like the flower that fades and the grass that withers. Our lives are nothing but a vapor except that we have been infused by the Eternal Spirit of the One who loved us, and so freely GAVE HIMSELF FOR US, and so, Jesus, since You know how YOU chose to make us, I pray you take our frames into consideration once again, and have MERCY upon us, and on our country, in Jesus Name!!
Finally, Lord Jesus, thank You so much for the great price you paid because I know that because of YOUR sacrifice, there is hope and that ultimately ALL will turn out okay, and no matter what happens, that YOU will receive the glory from it, and You will keep and preserve Your people through every tribulation that will be released into this earth.
We do not walk in fear, but uprightly, and up and down in the land with a conquering tread in Your Name to fearlessly rescue those from the darkness who are willing to be rescued. Lord, show us those to whom we should go. Show us those whom you have appointed to hear the words of Eternal Life. Help us not to just be scatter shooting, but let us go with haste, and with purpose, and TO THE MARK, in the Name of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.
Now, Lord, I thank you for those prophets who are discerning the times, and fearlessly pronouncing that which they have truly heard in the secret place in their times of waiting on You. Let us first always discern the purpose is NOT to see judgment come to pass, but rather that we heed the warnings that we might truly HUMBLE OURSELVES AND PRAY because the responsibility does fall upon the shoulders of your people according to the most quoted scripture by our national prayer warriors, "If My people who are called by My Name........"
Lord Jesus, give us YOUR burden, give us YOUR heart. Give us YOUR burden, and give us YOUR heart. Give us YOUR burden, and give us YOUR heart.
Let it be so, In the Name of the Living Word, our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.
